Henry Wadsworth Longfellow,the first American poet to maintain a living writing verse, was born in Portland, Maine, in 1807. An educator and poet, whose works include Paul Revere’s Ride, The Song of Hiawatha, and Evangeline, he was also the first American to translate Dante Alighieri’s The Divine Comedy.
There are some of us born with a natural capacity to entertain whether it be through written or spoken word, dancing, singing or acting. Few actually become well known or famous. There is someone out there that is well known, loved and famous in ceratin circles. Let this be an ode to you today.
