ME against ME…

the naked truth

“The battles that count aren’t the ones for gold medals. The struggles within yourself — the invisible, inevitable battles inside all of us — that’s where it’s at.” — Jesse Owens

Sometimes, we only need to go as far as the mirror to face our biggest struggles. It is switching to the internal mode of questioning and reasoning, that sometimes exasperates us the most. Then we find others call us crazy for talking to ourseleves…and answering. However, it is actually healthy to do this. Besides, who knows better what we want or need or feel or think than our own selves, right?

There is a battle that must be fought within all of us at one point in time in our lives. Sometimes it is not a question of making the best decision for everyone involved. Sometimes you have done so for so long that making a decision that is all for you seems wrong. Is this good to think? Why?
What if in finally deciding to choose to do something just for yourself, something pretty amazing comes around? What if it is at the price of another’s anger or hurt? Is it still worth it?
If you continue to make the best decision for all involved, you could pass up the opportunity of having that one treasure forever. Is that also worth it? Do you consider yourself deserving enough to own it? Or do you see yourself  trapped in the struggle, unable to decide?

Between the trap of ourselves and what could be, how do we decide?

Time goes by so quickly and the struggle with self can take up much of that time. Yet, what if you knew you were running out of time? Would that change the way you made the decision? Why can’t we live everyday as if we knew time were running out? Then might we forget the struggle, break the mirror and just enjoy life?
