Media’s Role…

Media’s role in our negative views of life are predominant. News channels and magazines and Sunday Morning newspapers, radio, they all play a major part in projecting the negative image of humanity.
Just take a look at the images that made picture of the week from TIME journalistic photographers:

Bomb attack in Pakistan

Fire ravaged Phillipines

Homeless in flood waters of Pakistan

News of trapped miners in San Jose, Chile

Do you see the correlation to our own viewpoints of the world around us? DO you feel the media generates more negative news to the viewing public than it does positive news?

What change do you think it might have on the world’s society if more positive news were projected out to the masses?

First I must say that the photography is phenomenal. lol sorry…. it goes against the point you are making, but I do photos… and they’re glorious!

Now… I totally agree. We, here in Toronto, just went through the G20… but for months beforehand, the media told us daily how much money was going into this event… money that was NOT going to feeding our poor or housing folks… so the public got madder and madder and before the G20 arrived, we were riled… they are a powerful tool, the media.. and they could be more positive.

I stopped reading the news every morning – years ago. I know what is happening in the world, but I don’t feel the need to start off every single day with all that negative input… it’s depressing. Wouldn’t it be nice to see something positive on the front page for a change? Also..if there is anything really big going on, everyone is talking about it. I hear it anyway. I don’t read it. If I buy a paper, it’s for the crossword. lol

Have a super, positive kind of day, please!

We know what the media can do…however negative these images you’ve displayed here, they are still breathtaking, and heartbreaking. In some ways it is good to see what’s going on and not turn a blind eye. The miners trapped will be with me always until they surface…

I know you are right that we should not turn a blind eye. I just feel that media propetuates the most negativity, while capitalizing on the effects of it.
